Drs. Paola Pérez and Steve Nelson examine a sick baby at Pueblo Nuevo.

About 12:30 baby-without-name shows up one month of age with 180 heart and 72 respiration, retractions and rales [clicking, rattling, or crackling noises from the lung or lungs] on both sides.    Twenty-two-year-old mama, Alicia*, and her husband, Lincoln*, are here and we’re going to try and transfer them to the hospital.

They are going to pray for baby-no-name and I’ll try and get a hold of the parents tonight to see how the baby’s doing or where he is.

We have had a long line of trucks coming through today with food, so I think much of the risk of being here is dissipated by the fact that people have something to eat.

Dr. Nelson is a family practice physician with Reach Beyond.
